Albert Pujols 0-0 DNP
One by one, major stars are pulling out of the WBC. Johan Santana, Albert Pujols, and no Alex Rodriguez are all among this list who will not longer be on rosters due to injuries or insurance. Rodriguez will have surgery on a cyst in his hip, and is out until the end of may. Santana has a bum elbow, but hopes to be ready by opening day. The Pujols situation is quite different as he is unable to obtain insurance that will guarantee his contract in the event that he is injured in the WBC. Albert had this to say when asked about his decision:
“It’s all about respect. I don’t want to play against them,” … “I don’t feel comfortable with it, and that’s it”
